My Octopus Teacher is a feature documentary produced by Sea Change and Off the Fence and Directed by James and Pippa Ehrlich.
 

The film tells the story of Craig Foster, a South African Filmmaker, who at the lowest point of his life, forges an unexpected and unusual friendship with an Octopus. Through this friendship, and through daily visits to the Octopus’s kelp forest home, Craig reconnects with nature, discovers a new sense of meaning and becomes revitalised.
 

My Octopus Teacher was released on Netflix in 2020 and went on to enjoy tremendous audience success. The film was nominated for and won numerous awards including Best in Festival at both the 2020 Wildscreen Film Festival and the 2020 Jackson Hole Film Festival; Best Science/Nature Documentary at the 2021 Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards and Best Documentary at the 2021 BAFTA Film Awards.
 

Ultimately, the film also went on to win the Best Documentary Feature Award at the 93rd Academy Awards in 2021.
